Applications from RAF Junior Ranks (JR) and Junior Officers (JO) are now invited for the JROPSS 2026. Generously funded by the RAF Charitable Trust (RAFCT), and delivered through selected RAF Flying Schools, the JROPSS is open to JR (Cpl and below) JO (Flt Lt and below) from the RAF Regular and RAF Reserve Services.

There will be 30 IFS available with the aim of giving applicants the opportunity to apply for a 1 hour trial flight at a selected RAF Flying School. There will be 18 JROPS Schemes available for 2026; 15 offered to JR and 3 to JO*. Each Scholarship comprising of 15 hours light-aircraft Flying Training and associated ground school. Following the Civil Aviation Authority National Private Pilot Licence (CAA NPPL) syllabus, each scholar will fly to solo standard and slightly beyond. Training will take place during designated training periods scheduled throughout the period Apr to Aug 2026. Furthermore, there is continued support for the Beyond Solo Scheme (BSS) award with some changes for the qualifying criteria. The BSS application window will be open in Sept 2026.
